The ankle

A lot can be achieved without an operation

Often, however, injuries and wear-and-tear disorders make an operation of the ankle unavoidable.

In cases of wear and tear or injury, arthroscopic operations – so-called keyhole or minimal invasive surgery – can help.

If the cartilage is damaged specialist help is necessary. Our cartilage transplantation team, led by Dr. Harald Junghanns, profits from years of experience in university, research and practice. This means we can often help in cases which used to be considered hopeless. In severe cases of osteoarthritis we can perform bone and cartilage transplantation and also replacement of the surface of the ankle joint.
